That sentence applies to the photo check, and this page states exactly what it covers - and the two places where a backend is involved, so the claim stays honest.
The photo check - on your device
What happens when you analyze a photo
- The analysis tools - a pinned Pyodide Python runtime and a MediaPipe face model, about 40 MB in total - download once from this site's own origin and are then cached by your browser.
- Your photo is decoded in memory inside your browser and measured there. The image is never uploaded, never sent to a server, and never written to browser storage.
- During an analysis the page makes no network requests outside this site's own origin. You can verify this in your browser's network inspector.
- The report identifies your photo only by the SHA-256 fingerprint of its normalized pixels. Saving or sharing a report is always a separate action you take.
The analysis screen asks for one consent checkbox before you pick a photo, stating that analysis happens on this device. Cancelling a check stops the worker immediately.
What is stored, and where
On this device only
Your check-in history, trend and plan live in your browser's local storage on this device. They never sync anywhere, need no account, and the Progress view has a Clear my history button that removes them completely.
Not collected
This site ships no analytics, no tracking scripts, no advertising and no third-party cookies. It is a static site plus the analysis runtime.
The two features that use a backend
Separate from the photo check
Shared gallery. Opening the Gallery view loads pairs published by the Selfbaus team from a Supabase backend (EU region). Viewing the gallery is a network request to that backend; it carries no information about you or your photos beyond what any web request carries. The bundled demo pairs on this site are AI-generated simulations of fictional adults.
Admin. The Admin view is a restricted sign-in for operating that backend. It is not part of the photo check and not available to visitors.
Neither feature touches the photo check. An analyzed photo never travels, whichever of these you use.
What Selfbaus does not do
- No upload, sale or sharing of your photos - they stay on your device by construction, not by policy promise.
- No face recognition or identification; the face model measures a mesh of points in one photo at a time.
- No medical, dermatological or psychological assessment, and no attractiveness rating, because no validated one is available.
